Denver to Winter Park

Getting here

Winter Park is about 67 miles from downtown Denver, roughly 1 hour 40 minutes by car on I-70 and US-40 over Berthoud Pass, at 11,307 feet. In winter the Amtrak Winter Park Express runs from Denver Union Station to the resort base in about two hours.

Car, train or shuttle

  1. From the airport

    Denver International is about 90 miles, roughly two hours.

  2. By car

    I-70 west, then US-40 over the pass. Check cotrip.org for chain laws before you leave.

  3. Winter Park Express

    Amtrak's ski train runs from Denver Union Station to the resort base Thursday to Sunday, mid-December to late March. The A Line connects the airport to Union Station.

  4. The Lift

    A free bus that links Winter Park and Fraser.

  5. Home James

The valley

The Fraser River runs 32 miles north from Berthoud Pass, past Winter Park, Fraser and Tabernash to Granby. Grand Lake and the west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park sit above it.
